Events - The Geddes Memorial Lecture

Martha Kearney, presenter of the BBC's "World at One" and "Newsnight Review", joined the list of distinguished figures who have associated themselves with the Geddes Awards when she delivered the annual Geddes Lecture in October 2007 to an appreciative audience in the Examination Schools, Oxford. She chose as her topic 'Radio - Medium of the Moment'.

The Geddes Memorial Lecture is a chance for student journalists to meet prominent figures in the media world, and to hear their views on the state of journalism today. Previous speakers have included former TV war correspondent and ex-independent MP Martin Bell; former editor of the Spectator and now editor of The Sunday Telegraph Dominic Lawson; Britain's leading current affairs interviewer, Jeremy Paxman; Guardian Editor Roger Alton; Sir Peter Stothard, Editor of The Times Literary Supplement and former Editor of The Times; Jon Snow of Channel 4 News; Nick Robinson, the BBC's Political Editor, and Matthew D'Ancona, editor of "The Spectator".
